Danielle Beck is a Clinical Animal Behaviourist, rehabilitation trainer, and founder of Control The Meerkat, a trauma-informed education and behaviour support service. With over 15 years of experience, Danielle specialises in working with complex behaviour cases, including trauma, dissociation, and emotional dysregulation, and brings a unique perspective shaped by both professional expertise and lived experience.
As someone who has trained and relied on assistance dogs for over nine years, Danielle is passionate about supporting disabled people to train their own assistance dogs ethically, safely, and with a strong foundation of trust and co-regulation. She is actively involved in assessing assistance dog partnerships for multiple organisations and advocates for increased accessibility and inclusivity within the assistance dog sector.
Danielle is known for her engaging use of neuroscience, including the popular Control The Meerkat analogy, to help caregivers and professionals understand the inner workings of canine behaviour. She also mentors professionals progressing towards Clinical Animal Behaviourist accreditation and regularly contributes to national conversations around welfare-focused assistance dog training and trauma-informed care.

Affective Dog Behavior is a combination program founded of experience, skills and Dr. Jaak Panksepp's Affective Neuroscience as well as Social Neuroscience and various research in general Neuroscience. While your ADB Team is knowledgeable in the topics covered within the program, the Team continually adds new knowledge through their efforts in translating ongoing modern (neuro)science into "dog". That said, please understand that the ADB Team is not a team of scientists but a team of canine professionals with a keen interest in the various branches of Neuroscience.
