Making ethical decisions for your SD Team.
Published 14 days ago • 3 min read
Welcome to Day 3 of the Service Dog Handler Symposium!
We are excited for today's presentations that all deal with some very hard decisions that most SD Handlers have to face at some point in their journey. This is an area that is not a wrong & right way to do things. Each individual has to think about what is best for your team. This day is not designed to tell you to do things our way, but hopefully we will get you thinking about what is best for your team.
Hi, I'm Pine (like the tree.) I'm a certified dog trainer and behavior specialist located in Idaho. I'm a strong advocate for humane, ethical training choices with not just dogs, but all animals (and especially horses.) I am a Star Wars kid who grew up on a horse farm and started training horses when I was 13. I went to college to study creative writing. I started my dog training journey at 10 when I found a book in the library about agility. From there it's been fits and starts until about 15 years ago when I switched to training dogs full time. I'm a dedicated outdoorsman and spend any free time I have either on the trail with my dogs, or with my horse (a hot headed mustang named Big Bendigo.) I am Not Yet a Jedi, but I'm working on it.
Canine Coach Cindy Campbell is owner of Clovis Paws for Play, in Clovis, California. A lifelong animal lover, Cindy grew up with everything from chickens and cattle to dogs, cats, and even a donkey. After the loss of two beloved dogs, Cindy found a new path with her Newfoundland, Sprockett, and was introduced to positive reinforcement and clicker training—changing her approach to dog training forever. She has since continued her education through the Karen Pryor Academy and is a Pro Dog Trainer certified by Absolute Dogs, currently advancing through the Zero to CD program with Hannah Branigan
Cindy shares her life with her service dog, Nick the Standard Poodle, and her Great Pyrenees, Pau. Nick is the inspiration for starting Clovis Paws for Play where Cindy supports local Service Dog Teams with both virtual & in-person services and group PA Outings.
